MA Pain Call to Action

Tell MA Senators to Remove Barriers to Pain Treatment!

A Message from the U. S. Pain Foundation:

Massachusetts pain advocates, we are in need of your help.

On June 13, the Massachusetts House of Representatives unanimously passed H.4758 - An Act Relative to Treatments and Coverage for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Recovery Coach Licensure. This bill includes H.990/S.659, which will eliminate Prior Authorization from pain management treatments that insurers are required to cover as a result of the CARE Act we worked on in 2018. We appreciate everyone who took action to advance this bill through multiple committees. Your participation has been crucial. H.4758 also encompasses several other significant pain provisions that we have worked on.

We need your assistance now to advance this important legislation into law.

The next stage for H.4758 is for the Massachusetts Senate to pass the language before this session ends on Wednesday, July 31st. As the end of the session is swiftly approaching and the Senate has a long list of bills to review, there is a concern that time may run out. However, we have an important opportunity to advocate for the pain community and ensure that your voice is heard.

Our Ask: Please take action to ask your MA state senator to either pass the House bill or include the pain provisions in a similar Senate bill.

Sincerely,

Cindy Steinberg
